SAVANNAH Variety Description:
Savannah is a 3 clone advanced generation synthetic bermudagrass
developed in Rolesville, NC. Savannah was developed specifically for
turf uses. It is a dark green, low growing variety that forms a
dense, aggressively spreading sod at mowing heights of 3/8" to 2"
(1-4 cm). Savannah has exhibited early spring green-up in North
Carolina and moderate-to-good salt tolerance in greenhouse
experiments. Savannah is ideal for reseeding weak areas of common
bermudagrass lawns.
Geographical
Adaptation:
Savannah is an excellent all-round bermudagrass that performs
well in regions where bermudagrass is well-adapted. Named
for Savannah Ga, It will grow throughout the complete Bermuda
growing area in the US.

Soil, Climate, and Fertility
Requirements:
Savannah performs well in a range of soils, and like all
bermudagrasses, performs best in soils with a pH of 5.5 to 8.0.
Three to five lbs. N/1000 sq. ft./year is adequate in most areas of
the United States. A balanced fertilizer of 3:1:2 ratio of NPK with
sulphur is recommended in most geographic locations.
Stand Establishment:
Savannah, like all Bermudagrasses, requires about 2 weeks for
complete germination. Color may be observed before that time. In
good growing weather where soil temperatures are above 65F., expect
3 to 4 weeks for a complete stand of luxurious turfgrass.
Seeding Rates:
If Establishing a New Lawn: 4-6 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft.
If Overseeding Your Existing Lawn: 3 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft.
Coated Seed
Savannah is an extremely small grass seed. For easier handling and
planting, you will receive the seed in a coated form. No herbicide
or pesticide has been added to this coating. The inert clay coating
enhances the germination process. Seeding Rates stated above account
for the weight of the coated seed.
